Earth Jams

Earth Jams is a vibrant new project born from the intersection of Louisa White SomaticsJoyful Jams CIC's dementia work, and the inspiring spirit of Julian Konczak's acclaimed film "The Forest.”

Louisa

Following her relocation to The New Forest, DYCP award winner Louisa White embarks on a new chapter in her artistic journey. Drawing upon her community arts practice spanning over 20 years; her accessible and enjoyable approach to movement and embodiment; Earth Jams will provide the New Forest rural dementia community creative workshops to inspire artwork to share regionally with outcomes to be disseminated nationally.

Louisa Directed This dementia arts film which demonstrates the sensitive dance aesthetic possible in dementia arts. 

The artwork participants create will be a mix of physical work akin to those created recently with NPO MAST Studios (Community Takeover project winter 2024); Dance, which captures the sensitive response to nature connection and will feature in Earth Jams final film created by Julian Koncazk and creative documentation of both process and outcomes.

Julian

Earth Jams will document the project through the lens of renowned filmmaker Julian Konczak. Julian will create a powerful new short film that will layer the human experience in movement and in nature. The film will premiere at Forest Art Centre, echoing the legacy of original inspiring film, "The Forest" and tour regionally and digitally. 

Joyful Jams CIC

Joyful Jams CIC brings its wealth of experience in working with the dementia community, ensuring that these experiences are inclusive, supportive, and deeply meaningful. Partnering with Joyful Jams enables a robust project, both financially and ensuring good partnerships and project management.

Simon

Renowned photographer Simon Bray will document the project, capturing the beauty and poignancy of the participants' creative journeys. A selection of these photographs will be shared at our partner organisation events and community displays.
