I am a

Creative, Healer, Holder, Teacher, Conduit

Every individual has the right to feel at home in their own skin, to form meaningful relationships and look forward to tomorrow, this statement has been at the forefront of my community arts practice spanning 25 years. In this time, I have developed a successful method of working; using creative and developmental movement practices coupled with therapeutic skills and authentic presence, which has taken me into schools, community centres, hospitals and youth groups to facilitate joy and creativity, health and growth.

As my own practice evolves, I increasingly incorporate sensory items and objects found in nature, more voice, singing and narrative to support engagement, enjoyment, process, and experience. I work intuitively and always make way for universal wisdom to guide a group or individual process and journey.

It is my own life journey, of finding and graciously and bravely travelling along my often rocky, obscured, and steep path, that I have relied upon a wealth of creative practices and modalities to heal, strengthen, and love myself back to wholeness. I have worked with some truly gifted healers and teachers that have supported me on my way, but perhaps my greatest teacher has been myself; my own innate healer and wise person within, available to all if only we listen.

I have a strong personal movement and dance practice; I enjoy the discipline of a regular yoga practice and the freedom of dancing to my own creative insights and impulses. I’ve always been a dancer; I have strong memories as a young child of dancing with all my heart and soul to Holst: The Planets. The aliveness I experience when in the flow of movement absorbs and absolves my busy mind. I also love to use my imagination, both as a form of enquiry and to deepen my dance practice but also as a vehicle to broadening my perspectives and offering the unconscious a voice.

My personal research around creativity, imagination, and the mind body relationship continues to shape and inform my practice and development, I believe each of us has a thousand story constellations within our body tissue, and these stories need to be witnessed and honoured. Connecting with the story, offering a voice, through movement, words, image, colour, and sound adds texture, meaning and beauty to our lives and we can heal and hold ourselves and each other with compassion and respect.

In 2012 I co-founded Joyful JAMS CIC, JAMS provide multi-sensory song, dance and reminiscence sessions in dementia care. I enjoy developing and directing JAMS’s creative projects which include training, performances, and wellbeing sessions. In addition, I also provide Sherborne Developmental Movement (SDM) training, this work takes me around the country visiting a variety of wonderful SEND schools to share the SDM approach with teachers and staff.
